My precious Porkys,
I've been meaning to write a post here since last week but I can't seem to be able to put together in words the multitudes of thoughts and emotions that have been plaguing my mind since my last day with you guys. All I can say right now is that if students were flowers, I'd pick you guys again anytime, any day.
As most of you may recall, I was previously a primary school teacher and I was offered the option to switch to secondary school. It wasn't an easy decision as I was unsure if I would be able to be an effective teacher in secondary school. I wasn't sure if I could deliver my lessons well to older kids or whether I'll be able to relate to them. The past five weeks was to be my first experience teaching students who are older than 12 years old and thanks to you guys and also the ones from 3B, the past 5 weeks could very well be the best 5 weeks of 2009 for me.
In your own quirky, cheerful, mischievous and at times adorably irritating ways, you've given me the reason that made my decision to switch to secondary school worth it. It has been a joy planning lessons and going to class everyday for the past 5 weeks. It was so enjoyable that this morning, I actually looked at the clock and thought of the time when the bell would ring and I would have to go to 2/2 for English. English was the first period for today wasn't it?
While 5 weeks was short and passes by at the blink of an eye, I hope that I was able during that time to make school life a little happier for you guys. I also hope that I was able to help you learn a thing or two that will be useful to you in life. I'm just a teacher passing through and I sincerely hope that the time I had with you porkys was time well spent. We were given only 5 weeks together, I'm thankful for every second of it.
I apologise for not taking any pictures with you guys on my last day. The last day felt a little weird for me. The thought that it was the last time I'll enter class and greet you and deliver my lesson was in some ways a little overwhelming which is why I was a little edgy that day resulting in me raising my voice for the first time. I strongly believe that it is better to be remembered in people's hearts and minds then be captured on a photograph and be forgotten the next day. You guys are my first secondary class... There is no way i'll forget each and everyone of you.
Keep smiling, keep playing, keep being the porkys that make you unique.
